Davidson County is located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. Its county seat is Lexington. The county was created in 1822 and originated from Rowan County. The name of the county comes from William Lee Davidson (1746-1781), an American Revolutionary War general who was mortally wounded at Cowan's Ford.
